D&D: Adventures in Eberron - The King of Feathers

Image
This session the table is made up by the following characters: Aurora Sylvan , helf-elf ranger Carsten Birch , human cleric Caverick Strawton , human druid Edgarial Grandsword , elf wizard-artificer Xaerv , human fighter Managing the chaos is the incomparable, DM Emily . Having followed the wide avenue into the heart of the ancient ruined city of the giants, we found an enormous amphitheater backed up against the rising wall of the ravine. Nesting comfortably within this once grandiose ruin we found a great feathered beast of a dinosaur, and I think rightfully decided this must be the King of Feathers we'd been warned about. The great beast was asleep as we stumbled upon it and we quickly retreated up into the stands to decide on our plan and leave us room for evasive action should the thing awaken before we were suitably prepared for the coming battle. Higher up in the stands we came upon a fellow explorer who was also deciding on a course of action. Aurora Sylvan, this half-elven...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - It's a 1-Shot Kind of Night

Image
Typically there are six of us on this bi-Wednesday game night, but a combination of factors left all but two of us unable to attend. Aviv and I were talking about what we wanted to do when a walk-in joined the table and made the nights adventure more viable. Aviv had his new MCDM Flee Mortals! book and wanted to discover if running straight out of the book was as easy as we've heard. So, Sharai and I spent a few minutes modifying our characters down to 3rd level. Actually, she leveled her character down to three and I put the finishing touches on a 3rd level fighter I'd worked up for the Early Sunday D&D game. Once we were done and Aviv had put the finishing touches on the nights scenario we jumped into the action. Aviv ran the game, Sharai played Aurora Sylvan, a half-elf ranger, and I played Solaris Marcel Grescian, a half-elf fighter. We drew the Judgement card from the Decuma deck and determined that our group had revealed the truth that the mayor of Lastlight was in al...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - Stone Giant City

Image
In the deep jungle interior of the Xen'drik our search for the Stone of Fate has brought our party to the edge of a great ravine. Some finger of the giants hand? It is uncertain, but distinctly a possibility, for the Traveler's Curse has reached out to touch us before and is almost certain to again. Below us stretches out a ruined city built to the scale of giants. Stone buildings of enormous size, imposing temples, and smaller ramshackle ghettos stretch out to fill the chasm below us. It is a site not soon forgotten. Edgariel summons forth his familiar, a hawk of some sort, and sends it soaring out over the ruins, surveying the city below and acting as our reconnaissance. Through the eyes of that spirit he discovers a courtyard of burned bodies which are certainly far more recent than the millennia old ruins we stand above. An investigation is in order. We descend into the ravine in fits and starts, the jungle encroaches everywhere and my companions have difficulty with the t...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - Sick Day

Image
The game went on without me and probably without a few others, what with it being this close to Christmas. I've been sick for the last two days and feeling odd for the two days previous. As such, I thought skipping the game and not risk infecting everyone just in time for the holiday. I don't know what they did, who that 'they' consisted of, and probably won't get any info about the game until 2024.

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - Nine Days on the Trail

Image
This session was run by the Emily, our usual DM, and the party consists of: Xaerv played by Julian Caverick Strawton played by Jeremy Edgariel Grandsword played by Dighton Carsten Brich played by Ronn We return to the game table on our fourth day of travel through the jungle of Xen'drik. It is some point in the month of Rhaan, but the exact day escapes me. Suffice to say that it is early autumn and none of their is little evidence of the changing seasons in our environs. For three days we followed a swampy branch of The Hydra south-southeast. Day 4: a pack of dinosaurs chase a wild boar into our camp during the night. Noticing us, the dinosaurs break off chasing the boar and focus on us. We spring to our own defense, but the fight is cut short when Edgariel Grandsword ( elf wizard/artificer ) transforms into an even larger dinosaur and chases them off. Day 6: As we travel down river Caverick Strawton ( human druid ) attracts the attention of a constrictor snake looking for ...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - Make-Up Session

Image
The group skipped the session that would have happened on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, for understandable reasons. There had been talk about running a one-shot of some sort, but that didn't happen. And so we find ourselves here, having a make-up session that most of the crew couldn't make it too. No worries, our DM showed up and our hero, Carsten Brich , was joined on the other side of the screen by Edgariel Grandsword ( elf wizard/artificer ). As a precaution against the unthinkable we added an NPC/sidekick to the evenings activities, Brody the Fighter/Bard . Before we set off on the nights adventure, and while our sidekick was being generated to accompany Edgariel, the DM filled me in on what has come before. Which was a thing that I had been wondering about and certainly appreciated being brought up to speed. Not knowing, or understanding, where we were and what we were doing was more than a little frustrating. That is now less of an issue. I have an idea how it all st...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - No Game Today

Image
With the meal prep in full swing for the big Thanksgiving dinner and all the family obligations facing everyone, it was decided that the day before would be a bad day to try and hold the next session of our Eberron campaign. Sorry, no update on the further adventures of Carston Brich. We're going to have a make-up day next Wednesday, but today is off the table so that we can all get our tables prepped for tomorrow. Wishing everyone a delicious celebration, victorious football outcomes, and a very happy Thanksgiving.

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - The Trees at the End of the Crypt

Image
Tonight, I returned to The Game Warehouse,  the world of Eberron, and take up the role of Carsten Brich as he joins with his fellow adventurers to continue on with the quest. Whatever that might be. I can only go by the brief episode descriptions on the Facebook page, as I have not gotten any sort of story summary from anyone in the group to this point. I need to make a point of asking for something of the sort next time we meet. Deep in the jungle of Xen’drik, as we search for a giant hand we have been sought out by elven druids. They have beseeched us to cleanse their city of an ancient unread horticultural menace. We have slashed and burned our way through a crypt to discover the source of the evil... the heart of darkness awaits! Well, we did it. Our party of adventurers found our way through the maze of razorvine, undead plants, and apparitions to reach the center of the trouble. A defiled alter, undead treants, and awakened trees awaited us and we rose to the occasion. We too...

D&D: Adventures in Eberron - Heroes (We Could Be)

Image
I waited until after my trip to Washington DC to do it, but I've joined another D&D group. This one meets every other Wednesday at The Gaming Warehouse in Grandville. That's the same place I was playing the Delta Green game and is in fact how I was exposed to this group. They run short sessions, 2.5 hours, and they've got a standing invitation for new players, so the number of players varries by session. I saw it running 8-players on the night we were playing Delta Green next to them. So, it could get interesting. Short sessions, lots of players, probably going to end up being a single set-up, combat, and cliff-hanger sort of session plan. But it gets me out of the house and playing games, so I'm down with that. Which means, I have a new character to introduce you to... For this game I wanted to play a cleric, a class that I've never played and since this is Eberron, he'll exist on a campaign world I've never played with. Also, let's just jump into t...
