Roleplaying News and Updates

Bunch of table news today, most of it bad and most of it not terribly relevant to you.  Adventure: The 3-Dragon Problem. Yesterday, the group I Dungeon Master for in Plymouth got together to play some D&D. Last session they suffered a bad defeat and all of their characters ended up captured. My solution to this dilemma was to put them in the shoes of their rivals and send them in to rescue their characters. I mixed things up, rather than letting them choose, and made the wizard play a fighter, the fighter play a wizard, the monk play a cleric, and the paladin was given a rogue. They successfully infiltrated, assaulted, and rescued their characters as well as a trio of townsfolk. I'm sure there will be no repercussions from the heroes being rescued by their rivals. But, as a bonus they got to know the rival party better than they might have otherwise done. It was a good session and I think everyone had fun. At the end, I told the gang to level up their characters, everyone is n...

Learn to Play Delta Green #2

I had the second session of Delta Green tonight. Having created our characters in the first of three sessions, this time around, we started the actual scenario and it was fun. I'll write it up from the point of view of my character and put it up shortly. Good times.

A Very Delta Green Groundhog Day

Image
Groundhog Day 2017 inside the head of Jeff Moore What the Fuck! Get yourself together, man! You got this. You wanted this. This stupid, ridiculous assignment. Go to Punxsutawney, take some pictures of Phil, and write a bit of fluff about this silly tradition. You’re like Bill Murray, only without a camera man or a producer. Damn, I love Bill Murray. Probably, everyone loves Bill Murray. But there may have been something to the weirdness that his character went through. What was his name, Phil something-or-other. This isn’t a time loop, but that might be preferable. Maybe coming here early wasn’t a good call. Maybe it was. Fuck I don’t know. It’s a groundhog, right? Sure, it is. A groundhog cared for by a bunch of Pennsylvania Dutch speaking nerds who’ve built a club around their weather predicting rodent. It’s not a cult, it’s a tradition. The rodent isn’t immortal. It most certainly has not been the same groundhog for over a hundred and thirty years. And those guys yeste...

Meetup: Learn to Play Delta Green

Image
I signed up for anther Meetup event and it went down tonight. This time it was a Delta Green RPG on the table. Delta Green is about the end. The end of everything. Your family, everyone you know, your country, all life on Earth. It may seem to be about other things from time to time. About manipulation. About power. About control. It has all these things, but that's not what it's about. It's not about winning and it's not about advancement and it's not about the best weapon or the most clever plan. Delta Green is about the end of everything - and how much of it you'll live to see. It's scheduled to be a 3-session introduction and tonight was all about the meet-and-greet, character creation, and session zero stuff. Myself and two other guys. I'm a newbie player to Delta Green, so this should be interesting. The next two sessions will be running through a mission. I made a character, met a couple of nice guys, and next Wednesday the fun begins.
