Roleplaying News and Updates
Adventure: The 3-Dragon Problem. Yesterday, the group I Dungeon Master for in Plymouth got together to play some D&D. Last session they suffered a bad defeat and all of their characters ended up captured. My solution to this dilemma was to put them in the shoes of their rivals and send them in to rescue their characters. I mixed things up, rather than letting them choose, and made the wizard play a fighter, the fighter play a wizard, the monk play a cleric, and the paladin was given a rogue. They successfully infiltrated, assaulted, and rescued their characters as well as a trio of townsfolk. I'm sure there will be no repercussions from the heroes being rescued by their rivals. But, as a bonus they got to know the rival party better than they might have otherwise done. It was a good session and I think everyone had fun. At the end, I told the gang to level up their characters, everyone is now 3rd level. I've let them off the rails and they're on their own from here, I'm curious to see how well they maintain focus on their goals and in which direction they'll run off in.
The Early Sunday D&D group, which is the one where I play Thergale the Verdant, did not meet this week. The DM is off taking a bit of a vacation some-where-or-another. The worst part of that is, I'll be gone on my own trip to Washington DC when next they meet. That's going to be a long break, 6-weeks between my appearances at the table.
The Random Encounter group was cancelled this week, so Walton Glaives was sidelined and unable to work his magic. The hobby store we play at closed on Saturday, and while we were going to move to the DMs house... he got to feeling a bit under the weather and canceled the game.
So, no games today. Bummer.
But then, in further bad news, I received an email from the GM in my Delta Green game. His wife found a job. Which basically cancels the plan to extend our three session learn-to-play through the month of October. Good for him and congratulations to his wife, but I was having fun with that group so I'm sad to lose that game.
There are a few other choices for groups that meet on Monday or Wednesday, so I'm considering joining up with a couple other groups. Really, it depends on which weeks those groups meet on. I'll probably wait until I get back from DC before jumping into any of those.
I'll write up the Campaign Diary for Adventure: The 3-Dragon Problem in the next day or three and I still need to finish the write up of how the Delta Green mission went. Those will both be coming soon. Later.
