Traveller #005: Big Hammer Solutions and Prime Directives

Image
The journey of the Deepnight Revelation continues...  Today the crew for this session of Brett's ongoing Traveller game consists of the following: Jeff "Mega" Credit in the role of XO, as played by Mike Will "Danger" Robinson engineer extraordinaire, as played by Brent Daryen "Lucky" Gavic the vagabond drifter and space rogue, as played by me (Ronn) Prime Directives? We don't have any such thing--go find the fungus and eliminate the threat it poses--that's our directive. Also, maybe, see what else is out there in the unexplored places in the universe... bring back the cool shit. Welcome to the Near Side of Yonder, maybe we'll find something cool... or at least a gas giant we can use to refuel the ship. We're so far outside charted space every jump is a surprise. The surprise this time being an arm of the Great Rift stretching across our planned course. Going around it will add years to our trip, so everybody is scrambling to find a c...

Traveller #004: Playing Catch-up and Rescuing Aliens

Image
Editor's Note: Apparently, I have missed a session of this Traveller campaign. Not sure how that happened, but it's a thing and the characters have launched the ship, taken off into the wild dark vastness of space, and I'm a bit behind the curve of the story. The Journey Continues... see the note above.  The crew for this session of Brett's ongoing Mongoose 2nd Edition Traveller game today consists of the following: Jeff "Mega" Credit in the role of XO, as played by Mike Will "Danger" Robinson engineer extraordinaire, as played by Brent Ichobod Hoke our security, protection, and peace of mind, as played by Josh Daryen "Lucky" Gavic  the vagabond drifter and space rogue, as played by me (Ronn) Waking up from a deep oblivion, Gavic, realized he was no longer planet side or even still at the space port, the Deepnight Revelation was in on the fringe of the Great Rift far from known sectors and familiar trade routes. His second realization,...

Traveller Intercepted by Bowl Game

Image
Yet another delay in our launch sequence. Apparently, our GM is an Ole Miss fan, because our Traveller campaign has just been sidelined by the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and the matchup between Ole Miss and Penn State. Oh well, we'll try again in two weeks. Saving the universe will have to wait.

Traveller: Session Cancelled

Image
Sad news. No game session today, which is a double bummer because we were adding a member to our crew and starting off on the next leg of our campaign. But the GM sent out word that he couldn't run the game and there's not much I can do to make him run... I mean, really, there's nothing legal I could do. As such, the further adventures of Daryen Gravic are delayed until the end of the month, December 30th is the next scheduled game. Note to self: check messages before driving across town to the game store for your bi-weekly Traveller game.

Traveller #002: Back on the Road

Image
It's been a while, but we were able to get together at The Gamer's Wharf  to play some Traveller and continue the adventures of "Lucky" Daryen Gravic. The game store we were playing at closed, everybody got busy, and as such there hasn't been a game session since I last mentioned it on September 23rd. So you haven't missed anything. We found ourselves down a couple of crewmembers, but the action continued aboard the quarantined and contaminated Deepnight Endeavor . Rounding out the team were Jeff "Mega" Credit, who is both our employer and a Deepnight financier, and "Danger" William Robison, our engineer. We can only hope that the other two members of the team return to the game next time around. We continued to work with the ships engineering crew to clear the ship by exposing the alien fungus to the vacuum of space, battle the zombified crew members infected by the fungus, and work around the trip-falls placed before us by the uncoopera...

Traveller: Session Cancelled

Image
No game today. Our mission to unravel the mystery of the Deepnight Endeavour is on hold our referee is sick and I can only hope that it has nothing to do with the alien biomass that we discovered aboard the ship. That alien presence did terrible things to the crew of that vessel and I would not wish that upon anyone. Get well soon, my friend. Get well soon.

Traveller: Session Canceled

Image
Our referee is out of town this week and as a result, canceled our game session this Saturday. We'll try again in two weeks. “The purpose of the referee is to present obstacles for players to overcome as they go about seeking their goals, not to constantly make trouble for them. This is a subtle distinction, and one that many beginners have trouble with.” ―  Marc W. Miller,  Marc Miller's Traveller

Traveller: Other Plans

Image
We have a Traveller game scheduled for today, but I'm going to miss it. I have a birthday party to go to. Seems my nephew is celebrating his first year of life and my wife thinks this is more important than investigating a slime filled space ship. I guess I can understand her thinking, but I bet it wont be as much fun. I'll catch up with the guys in two weeks...
