D&D: Adventures in Eberron - The King of Feathers

This session the table is made up by the following characters:

Aurora Sylvan, helf-elf ranger
Carsten Birch, human cleric
Caverick Strawton, human druid
Edgarial Grandsword, elf wizard-artificer
Xaerv, human fighter

Managing the chaos is the incomparable, DM Emily.

Having followed the wide avenue into the heart of the ancient ruined city of the giants, we found an enormous amphitheater backed up against the rising wall of the ravine. Nesting comfortably within this once grandiose ruin we found a great feathered beast of a dinosaur, and I think rightfully decided this must be the King of Feathers we'd been warned about.

The great beast was asleep as we stumbled upon it and we quickly retreated up into the stands to decide on our plan and leave us room for evasive action should the thing awaken before we were suitably prepared for the coming battle.

Higher up in the stands we came upon a fellow explorer who was also deciding on a course of action. Aurora Sylvan, this half-elven archer had lost her companions to the dangers of the ruins and was more than happy to join us in our explorations.

We gathered magical energies and drew weapons and launched an impressive surprise strike on the sleeping beast. Wounded, bound in vines, and facing a pack of blood thirsty adventurers, the beast magically slipped from it's bonds and stepped from nothingness thirty feet away. It should have run, but it was hurt, angry, and in it's nest. It chose to fight. And that was the end of the great beast. Even as the smaller dinosaurs scrambled from beneath the ruins of the amphitheater to aid it, our advantage was too great. We slew the king of feathers and scattered it's subjects through an impressive display of magic and martial feats.

Beneath the stands and seats of the ruin we discovered a plethora of treasures gathered from less successful explorers: electrum platters and goblets, potions of giant strength and fire breath, a unusual tribal mask, a helm of mind reading, an immovable rod, and I pocketed a Wand of Secrets.

Still, we have not unearthed all the secrets of this ruined city, nor have we found the artifact we've come in search of, the Ebon Flame. We shall continue our search and see what else this place holds in store for us.

Just got back from The Gamer's Wharf  where I ran the first of two D&D adventures to cover the game slots usually occupied by Brett and Mike. They're both at GenCon and this seemed like a good time to show the group what my style of DMing looks like. I overpacked and under prepared, couldn't find half my notes, and just ran things the way I thought would be most enjoyable. I had fun. The players seemed to have fun. Loke Books of Battle Mats

We use the Cyberpunk themed version of these Loke books in our game and they work really nicely. So I was inspired to buy myself some and of course I went overboard and bought three two-book sets. These aren't quite as large as the Cyberpunk maps, the giant books are 12x16 inches and these are 12x12 inches, but that still makes for a good size map. 12x24 if you use the two page spread or 24x24 if you combine two books as Loke intends them to be used. The quality is good. The art is fair. The usefulness... well, time will tell. I'm excited to use them and can envision a whole bunch of possibilities. Besides, each one of them comes with a blank grid map to increase their versatility.  I picked up three of the 2 book sets; The Dungeon, Castles, Crypts & Caverns, and Towns & Taverns. Enhance Game Bag

I heard the dog barking up a storm earlier, probably at a delivery driver, that's usually what gets him excited. I wasn't expecting a package so I just kept working on my thing and did not get up to see what he was barking at.  And then I received a text from my buddy, who is also one of my Adventure 3DP players. " My phone tells me you just received a package. Let me know if it's cool. " Sure enough, there was an unexpected box on my porch. Interesting. Whatever could it be? I get so few gifts at this time of year. Well, there was quite a fancy bit of kit in that box. " It's just a thank you for all your hard DM work and to maybe help offset the cost of the vast quantities of gasoline to come out here. 😀" This was quite unexpected.
