Early Sunday D&D: Thergale #006

Aaron is in the house and ready to bring the new campaign world to life. Eric is back. Ben and Alison are missing, but not gone? So I'm told. A couple new faces are at the table, Nate and Joshua. Best of the news is that I found my notes for the last couple sessions, so I can add posts for the last three sessions.

I awoke in the abandoned Church of Shar where the dhampir Christoph was lairing. The red-robbed orators of Bane were gone, along with the subjugated congregation they had gathered. No sign of either of my companions, the desired vestments, nor a note of explanation. Getting good help is difficult, finding answers often feels impossible. Despite earlier concerns, I headed back to the comforts of my servants and escape from the dust and cobwebs of the abandoned church.

The hour was late, or early, really depends on your perspective, and the streets were quiet and empty. An unusual situation in the beating heart of the Empire. Even the guards to the Opulentos District were missing. Something was amiss and answers were needed. I queried the townhome of Crayden, but found neither he nor the dhampir present. Jasper of Aritella, the Dao, was loose of his bottle but occupied in distracting himself and unable to provide any answers.

The ring of chaos echoed from deeper in the district and pursuing these led me to the Wicklestien’s estate, apparently the source of the disruption. Guards radiated out from the townhome into the city dealing with a mimic infestation resulting from an earlier celebration.

I was welcomed by a younger son, Vanborn, and offered refreshment and a companionly trade in news and rumor. The trio before me had all the characterizing traits of adventure seekers and I saw an opportunity to gain additional allies in my crusade to save the city. In addition to the charismatic young Wicklestien, my company included the northern gladiator, Okkek the Butcher, and the dwarf, Vappa McDunkin, of the widespread winehouses and apparently something of a mind speaker. I was aware of all three, but had little reason to pursue greater interaction previously. Perhaps that was a mistaken assumption.

I explained to them the emperor’s dilemma, expressed my concerns, and recruited them to the conspiracy. Together, we will attempt to save the empire.
