I put together a 2-page handout for the players to give them an overview of the first stop on their adventure. Welcome to Eureka.

OUR STORY BEGINS in Eureka, a large harbor town tucked into the rugged wildlands of the Lost Coast on the shore of Humboldt Bay.

Eureka is the principal port town and county seat of Humboldt in the Redwood Empire region of the Kingdom of Ajwain. The town is located on the Old Coast Road on the shores of Humboldt Bay, 270 miles north of San Francisco and 490 miles south of Portland and 150 miles west on the Trinity Kingsway from Redding. Perhaps more significantly, it is 100 miles south of the contested border with the Kingdom of Cumerin.

The town occupies the largest protected body of water between San Francisco Bay and Puget Sound. The bay is also the only deep water harbor between San Francisco and Coos Bay, making Eureka the largest port on that stretch of coast and the only one that can accept the larger deepwater ships.

Eureka is primarily a fishing and timber town, it also supplies materials and support to the mining industry further inland. The deep water port makes a fair bit of mercantile trade a significant part of the economy.

This is the crown jewel of civilization on this 500 mile stretch of coastline!

Just got back from The Gamer's Wharf  where I ran the first of two D&D adventures to cover the game slots usually occupied by Brett and Mike. They're both at GenCon and this seemed like a good time to show the group what my style of DMing looks like. I overpacked and under prepared, couldn't find half my notes, and just ran things the way I thought would be most enjoyable. I had fun. The players seemed to have fun. Loke Books of Battle Mats

We use the Cyberpunk themed version of these Loke books in our game and they work really nicely. So I was inspired to buy myself some and of course I went overboard and bought three two-book sets. These aren't quite as large as the Cyberpunk maps, the giant books are 12x16 inches and these are 12x12 inches, but that still makes for a good size map. 12x24 if you use the two page spread or 24x24 if you combine two books as Loke intends them to be used. The quality is good. The art is fair. The usefulness... well, time will tell. I'm excited to use them and can envision a whole bunch of possibilities. Besides, each one of them comes with a blank grid map to increase their versatility.  I picked up three of the 2 book sets; The Dungeon, Castles, Crypts & Caverns, and Towns & Taverns. Enhance Game Bag

I heard the dog barking up a storm earlier, probably at a delivery driver, that's usually what gets him excited. I wasn't expecting a package so I just kept working on my thing and did not get up to see what he was barking at.  And then I received a text from my buddy, who is also one of my Adventure 3DP players. " My phone tells me you just received a package. Let me know if it's cool. " Sure enough, there was an unexpected box on my porch. Interesting. Whatever could it be? I get so few gifts at this time of year. Well, there was quite a fancy bit of kit in that box. " It's just a thank you for all your hard DM work and to maybe help offset the cost of the vast quantities of gasoline to come out here. 😀" This was quite unexpected.
