UltraPro Premium Book Covers

This is an absolutely unnecessary luxury. But one that I happily spent my money on. I'm a fan of some nice embroidery and I love the look of these Ultra Pro book covers. They might not be the colors I would have chose, but they are edition appropriate. They are handsome and definitely give a premium look and feel to the books.

Who are these for? Me. Definitely, me. Maybe for you. Definitely not for everyone, I imagine these are not an item everyone will want and more than a few will say they're too expensive and absolutely unnecessary.

What are we actually looking at here. These are the Ultra Pro Premium Book Cover for Dungeons & Dragons. They have a stiff hardboard core, front and back with a flexible spine. They are wrapped in a textured leatherette cover which features embroidered title on the spine and a color matched ampersand on the cover.

How do they work? They don't completely encompass the book covers. Rather, slip the back cover into the back inner pocket and leave the front cover free. Which works better than you might think and has the effect of making them more versatile. There is an elastic band and a handful of different colored ribbons on each. You can use the elastic strap to either hold the front cover open, or secure the book closed by pulling it over the back cover. The five attached and color-coded ribbons (black, red, blue, purple, & white) make it easy to reference frequently used pages or sections of the book.

  • Dungeons & Dragons. Embroidered silver ampersand logo and book name on binding.
  • Dungeon Master's Guide. Embroidered purple ampersand logo and book name on binding.
  • Monster Manual. Embroidered blue ampersand logo and book name on binding
  • Player's Handbook. Embroidered red ampersand logo and book name on binding

These handsome book covers are sized for the 5th edition books, but since those are the same size as previous editions, they'll work nicely on the earlier books. With the possible exception of the 2e Monstrous Compendium, which is a pretty thick book. I haven't actually tested this.

I really like these embroidered book covers. I think they're quite handsome and of high quality. I've been quite happy with them and with all the Ultra Pro products I've picked up. These book covers match the style of the D&D notebook I showed in another post and pair nicely together, the Player's Handbook cover in particular.

You can see in these pictures how, between the fancy covers and the book tabs, my core rules are pretty well blinged out.
