D&D Spellbook Cards | Arcane

I bought the D&D SPELLBOOK CARDS | Arcane to use at the table with both Thergale the Verdant and Walton Glaives, my warlock and wizard characters, both of who cast spells of the arcane magic type. This pack only includes the spells from the Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook, but an expansion has been made for Xanathar's spells.

These cards are from GaleForce9 has created a set of cards that are lacking in art, but full of playable information. The art is lacking in any pizaz, the cards are very red and cream with the spell level and the three arcane class symbols surrounded by a solid border on the back. Functional, but boring.

The face of the cards adds black text to the mix and includes all the information you might need to know what your spell does. You get the spell name, casting time, range, components, and duration. You also get the spell description and particulars printed on the card... in the smallest font known to man. It's very small. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I appreciate all the information, but I would also appreciate some larger text. One other thing I wish they would have included on the face of the card is the spell level. Why that is not on both sides of the card I don't know.

The cards are standard size, laminated, and quite sturdy. I image that these will hold up well to play and last for years as they do feel quite durable. There are 257 cards in the deck and that does include blank cards for each level, so that you can add your own spells.

Aesthetically, I wish these cards were prettier and that the text was bigger, but I like the idea behind them and these do seem like a quality product. I'm looking forward to trying them at the table.

*Note from 12/24/2023: I've had these cards for a while now and I just want to say, I don't use them. They're just too hard for me to read. Besides, I have a printed spellbook that I use for each character I play. My Adventure: The 3-Dragon Problem players have used them several times, but I don't get a ton of use from these. They're nice cards, they just don't work well for me and the way I play.
